Permanent Outdoor Lighting Cost

Dealer-installed systems run about $18 to $35 a foot. Buy a kit like Govee and have a local expert install it, and 100 feet of roofline often comes to half the dealer price or less.

The short answer

What we charge to install

In aluminum track instead of clips: from $715.95 for 100 ft on one story. A few states add a small fee: $40 in Colorado and seven others, $100 in Rhode Island. No hourly rate, no call-out fee, no membership. Nothing due today.

A worked example

The front and one side of a one-story house, about 150 feet. A dealer system at $18 to $35 a foot comes to roughly $2,700 to $5,250. A 150 ft Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 kit (it launched at $449.99) plus our $805.95 installation comes to less than half of even the low end of that range.

What changes the price

  • Roofline length. The biggest factor. The front of a typical one-story home runs 80 to 120 feet; all the way around, 300 or more.
  • Height. Two stories need taller ladders and a second pair of hands.
  • Clips or track. Clips are cheaper; aluminum track hides the lights and looks cleaner from the street.
  • The kit you choose. Kits range from basic color strings to brighter, longer-warranty models.
  • Power. You need an existing outdoor outlet near the roofline. We don’t add outlets or circuits.

Is the dealer system worth the extra?

Sometimes. You pay mostly for the longer product warranty and a single company handling everything. If a 2 to 3 year kit warranty works for you, the kit-plus-install route gets the same look on your roofline for much less. Permanent lighting cost questions

How much do permanent Christmas lights cost?

Dealer-installed systems usually run $18 to $35 per linear foot, so $1,800 to $3,500 for 100 feet. A kit you buy yourself costs a few hundred dollars, plus installation if you don’t want to do the ladder work.

Does the WiredToWorking price include the lights?

No. You buy the kit you want from any retailer, and we install it at a fixed price.

Is there a minimum?

Our lowest price covers up to 100 feet of roofline, so a short run costs the same as 100 feet.

What does the installation cover?

Your expert mounts every light in a straight line along the eaves, seals the connectors, tucks the control box out of sight and sets up the app with you. The work is covered by our 90-day Happiness Guarantee.
